Andrew Dewar rozpoczął swą muzyczną karierę w dzieciństwie. W wieku dziewięciu lat zaczął grać na organach w lokalnym kościele w Yeovil (Somerset). Dzięki przyznanemu stypendium uczył się gry na organach w Wells Cathedral School pod kierunkiem Ruperta Gougha i Davida Sangera. W latach 1999–2000 był młodszym organistą Katedry w Wells, a następnie wyjechał do Niemiec na studia w Musikhochschule w Stuttgarcie w klasie Ludgera Lohmanna.
Został laureatem pierwszej nagrody na Międzynarodowym Konkursie Organowym w St Albans, a także na konkursie w Dublinie, Wiesbaden, Berlinie i Landau an der Isar. Był też laureatem nagród na konkursach w Montrealu, Schrambergu i Erfurcie.
Odbył tournée koncertowe po Ameryce Północnej i Rosji, daje również częste koncerty w całej Europie.
Od 2010 roku Andrew jest organistą w Katedrze Amerykańskiej w Paryżu, gdzie aktualnie nadzoruje jeden z najważniejszych projektów renowacji i przebudowy organów obecnie realizowanych we Francji.
Andrew jest też rozchwytywanym nauczycielem, pracując jako profesor klasy organów w Królewskim Konserwatorium Muzycznym w Londynie, a także jako profesor wizytujący klasy organów w Królewskiej Irlandzkiej Akademii Muzycznej w Dublinie.
Andrew jest również popularyzatorem rzadko spotykanej fisharmonii koncertowej. Daje na tym instrumencie regularne koncerty i dokonuje nagrań, opracował także liczne aranżacje utworów kameralnych z udziałem tego instrumentu.
Andrew jest także autorem transkrypcji najważniejszych kompozycji orkiestrowych i fortepianowych na organy, między innymi V Symfonii Piotra Czajkowskiego. Wiele z tych opracowań zostało wydanych przez wydawnictwo Lyrebird Music.

Andrew Dewar’s musical career started at an early age; he began playing the organ at his local church in Yeovil (Somerset) at the age of nine. With a scholarship to Wells Cathedral School he studied the organ with Rupert Gough and David Sanger. From 1999–2000 he was Organ Scholar at Wells Cathedral before moving to Germany where he studied at the Musikhochschule, Stuttgart, with Ludger Lohmann.
He was winner of the St Albans International Organ Competition and has also won further competitions, inter alia Dublin, Wiesbaden, Berlin and Landau an der Isar, plus prizes in Montreal, Schramberg and Erfurt.
Andrew’s concert diary has taken him on tours to North America, Russia and frequent engagements throughout Europe.
Andrew has been Organist at the American Cathedral, Paris, since 2010 where he is currently overseeing one of the most significant organ restoration and reconfiguration projects currently underway in France.
Andrew is in demand as a teacher and has held positions as professor of organ at the Royal College of Music in London, and visiting professor of organ at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin.
Andrew is also an advocate for the rare Art Harmonium. He performs and records regularly on the instrument and has created a number of chamber music arrangements featuring it.
Andrew has also transcribed major orchestral and piano works for organ, most notably Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. A number of these arrangements are published by Lyrebird Music.
